Kronborg is one of the most famous castles of northern Europe, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, and the fictional setting of Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet. It stands on a peninsula marking the narrowest point of the Oresund; the Swedish coast is only 4 km to the east. The light crowns the northeastern tower of the castle, called the Dronningens Tårn (Queen's Tower). ARLHS # DEN-119 (C 1908)
